Contents, Contexts, and Basics of Contextuality

چکیده
This is a non-technical introduction into theory of contextuality. More precisely, it presents the basics contextuality called Contextuality-by-Default (CbD). One main tenets CbD that identity random variable determined not only by its content (that which measured or responded to) but also contexts, systematically recorded conditions under observed; and variables in different contexts possess no joint distributions. I explain why this principle has paradoxical consequences, does support holistic “everything depends on everything else” view. Contextuality defined as difference between two differences: (1) content-sharing when taken isolation, (2) same within their contexts. thus special form context-dependence rather than synonym for latter. The applies to any empirical situation describable terms variables. Deterministic situations are trivially noncontextual CbD, some them can be described systems epistemic variables, variability replaced with uncertainty. Mathematically, such treated if they were ordinary

Photo Annotations: Preservation of Contents and Contexts
Photo is taken as memory of life and lives are the units of history. The value of photo fades away when the content becomes unrecognizable and context is lost over time. In this digital era, it has become easy to build contextual information for each photo with the process of annotating metadata. This paper proposes some aspects and techniques for semi-automatic photo annotation addressing seve...

متن کاملExpanding the Nudge: Designing Choice Contexts and Choice Contents*
To nudge is to design choice contexts in order to improve choice outcomes. Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein emphatically endorse nudging but reject more restrictive means. In contrast, I argue that the behavioral psychology that motivates nudging also motivates what may be called jolting—i.e. the design of choice content. I defend nudging and jolting by distinguishing them from the sometimes op...
متن کاملContextuality, Cohomology and Paradox
Contextuality is a key feature of quantum mechanics that provides an important nonclassical resource for quantum information and computation. Abramsky and Brandenburger used sheaf theory to give a general treatment of contextuality in quantum theory [New Journal of Physics 13 (2011) 113036]. However, contextual phenomena are found in other fields as well, for example database theory. In this pa...
متن کاملDecoherence and quantum contextuality
Decoherence is the most widely accepted mechanism to explain the loss of coherence in quantum systems. Here we show how simple (quantum) trajectory–based models can help to understand the physics behind decoherence processes. In particular, we will analyze with these models the relationship between decoherence and quantum contextuality in the double–slit experiment, where two (quantum) contexts...
